Billy Boylston

Billy Boylston serves as the senior vice president of advocacy at the Carolinas Credit Union League where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and focus of the League’s Advocacy initiatives. His journey with the League began in December 2013, and he brings a wealth of political and legislative experience to the credit union community.

As a South Carolina native, Billy’s dedication to his role is unwavering. To him, leading the strategic direction of the Advocacy team means ensuring that credit unions are well-represented and have a strong voice in the political landscape. He takes pride in standing up for credit unions and their beliefs, and his commitment to the industry’s bipartisan nature drives his passion.

Billy’s extensive background in politics includes work on Capitol Hill and within the Palmetto state. His experience spans various roles, including serving with Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX-02), working with candidate and Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC-03), participating in the Republican National Convention in Tampa, and contributing to the Romney/Ryan campaign.

Professionally, Billy has continued his education and growth by completing the League’s Leadership Development Institute (LDI) program and participating in Leadership South Carolina.

In his capacity as the League’s lobbyist at the South Carolina General Assembly, Billy coordinates federal legislative efforts with members from both North and South Carolina. In 2018 and 2020, he played a key role in major state charter updates, contributing to the industry’s ongoing progress. Additionally, in 2022, he assisted with the opposition of a bill that proposed federal IRS reporting changes, safeguarding the interests of credit unions.
