Working out of the League’s South Carolina office, Spears plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between elected officials and credit union members, driving effective communication, and advancing advocacy efforts. He is responsible for organizing grassroots campaigns, assisting with political action committee (PAC) fundraising, planning advocacy meetings and conferences, and supporting department-related communication initiatives.
Spears is deeply committed to the credit union movement, finding inspiration in each credit union’s unique origins and evolving community roles. He has successfully organized the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), increased PAC contributions, and cultivated strong relationships with many of the League’s member credit unions.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Sewanee: The University of the South, Spears brings a diverse professional background to his role. His experience includes an Immersion Internship at the Columbia Museum of Art, where he supported acquisitions and exhibition installations, and a position at Crawford and von Keller, LLC, where he assisted in the organization and delivery of time-sensitive legal documents.
Spears is passionate about environmental sustainability and expanding access to financial education for underserved communities. He believes that professional success hinges on optimism, dedication, and innovation—qualities he strives to uphold in his work at CCUL.
